Network Attached Storage

Nordic Backup Features
NAS devices are external hard drive appliances that are accessible to a network rather than one server, so they can be used by the whole office to store files. A NAS device is not a server itself. It only stores data and does not provide services such as e-mail, authentication, or file management. NAS can reduce management overhead and eliminate unreliable cabling while increasing and diversifying data flow on a local network.

NAS devices are susceptible to the same environmental challenges as any other on-site hardware. NAS appliances can also have hard drive failures and generally should not be used as the only storage of data without another form of backup. Unfortunately, most NAS devices do not offer a reliable and affordable option to secure data offsite.

Nordic Backup can secure the data stored on NAS appliances using the same strategy as backing up a full server. If the device is accessible to the main server or desktop at your location, we can compress, encrypt, and store copies of the data in our data centers. Initially, all files are backed up, and then we use our In-File Delta feature to take incremental backups. If you add new files, Nordic Backup automatically secures that full file on the next backup.
